Auto electrical diagnostics
Modern vehicles run on electronic modules that talk to each other. We plug in, read what the car is actually telling us, and track the fault down properly instead of replacing parts and hoping.

Queanbeyan and Canberra
Diagnostics, air conditioning, 12v and driving lights, from the workshop on Gilmore Road or from the van at your place. We have been doing the electrical side of this since the early nineties, first in Braddon and now out this way.

What we do
Cars, utes, 4WDs, caravans and boats. If it runs on twelve volts and it has stopped behaving, it is our sort of job.
Modern vehicles run on electronic modules that talk to each other. We plug in, read what the car is actually telling us, and track the fault down properly instead of replacing parts and hoping.
Service and repair on car and 4WD air conditioning. If a part has to come from somewhere else, we chase it down and fit it when it lands.
Supply and fitting of 12v gear, wired in tidily and fused properly so it behaves the same on the hundredth trip as it did on the first.
Light bars, spotlights and LED headlight upgrades, aimed and wired so dark country roads stop being a problem.
Dual battery setups, DC to DC charging and lithium house batteries for tourers, caravans and boats. We stock and fit REDARC, Enerdrive and customLITHIUM.
A good share of our work comes in from other workshops around Queanbeyan and Canberra who hit an electrical fault and hand it to us.

Diagnostics
Ash puts it plainly: electronic modules these days are not DIY friendly. Gone are the days of swapping computers between cars. A replacement module has to be re-flashed and paired up with the other control units before the car will accept it at all.
That is the equipment and the training we have, and it is why other workshops send the electrical jobs our way rather than chase them around themselves.
12v and lighting
Touring power, driving lights and 12v accessories, wired in and fused the way they should be. We stock and fit REDARC, Enerdrive and customLITHIUM, and you will find us at the 4WD and caravan expo at the Queanbeyan Showground.

Light bars, spotlights and LED headlight upgrades, supplied and fitted. One customer put it better than we would: he no longer has problems driving down dark roads.

Dual battery setups, DC to DC charging and lithium house batteries for tourers, caravans and boats, sized to what you actually run.
Our work

The workshop
The business started in the early nineties in Braddon, doing a big share of its work for the car dealerships nearby. Back then that meant fitting cruise control, CD players and alarms, and rebuilding starter motors and alternators for trade and private customers alike.
Ashley Deadman bought the business in 2008. When automotive repairers started getting pushed out of the Canberra CBD and there was nowhere sensible left to move to near the city, the answer was to go mobile and keep the customers rather than lose them. The workshop on Gilmore Road followed, and the van never stopped.
Plenty of the work still comes through other mechanics and through people passing a name on. Ash reckons the best part of working in this town is the people, even the ones standing in front of him having just had a very expensive morning.
“The best part of working in our town is the people we meet and deal with on a daily basis.”

Reviews
“This is an exemplary service workshop. The team, in particular Ash, are polite, competent, and explain and recommend everything that your car needs. Cost of repairs and/or thoroughly service are reasonable. If you are looking for fixing or servicing your car, looking to having a piece of mind, I highly recommend City Center Auto Electrical.”
“City centre was recommended to me by our canberra mechanic. Well worth the drive although they also have a mobile service. Professional friendly and honest pricing.”
“If you are looking for a great auto electrician, go here! The staff here are all really nice and helpful and the work they do is high quality. I had a light bar installed on my VW golf and some LED headlights supplied and fitted. All the work was done promptly and professionally. I am very happy with the lighting work done to my car and most importantly, I no longer have problems driving down dark roads!”
“Just terrific. Had a tiny plastic part on xtrail aircon to fix and the staff searched it and then ordered it in for me, were good with communication, fitted it in when it arrived. Really good service, they make it work, no fuss and really helpful. Highly recommend. Five stars definitely.”
